Cooking is mostly about the transformation of raw food into baked, fried, braised or steamed meals. In an imaginative way, we combine ingredients to create something tasty. This requires a good sense of seasoning, a touch of inventiveness and a little boldness.
Eating cooked food is a ritual that brings together different aspects of our culture. It is a positive and bonding experience obtained over something handmade. This experience transmits to us a sense of well-being and of accomplishment. Not only do our bodies receive nourishment, also our souls.
The kitchen can be a place to invent and develop traditional and new recipes. Most of us perceive the cooking process as a pleasant event. The same happens with sitting at the table and enjoying what you have just prepared. To me, it also evokes feelings of belonging, of acceptance and closeness.
I try to experience these feelings as often as I can. I cook for me, for friends and family and I appreciate every time we are able to come together and share over some soulful edibles.
