Wine Glass
Glass of Merlot all the way from Chile

In the spirit of new beginnings this is going to be my first post. So, cheers and salud! According to different sources there is an international wine calendar. And today is Global Wine Day. I was thinking it is a good reason to celebrate this grape-based beverage that has shaped our understanding of culture and the arts in various and unforeseen ways.

Wine has played a role in our societies as it is part of religious rites, as a status symbol for wealth and recently as a come together factor. It is difficult to think of a friend’s gathering or party without a glass of this exquisite liquid nor is a romantic dinner or a toast to the accomplishment of a project complete without it.

Whether it is a white, a rosé, or a red one, sweet, dry or sparkling, with bouquet or full-bodied, we all have a favorite. So, take a moment, sit down, pour yourself a glass, enjoy the color and the aroma, take a sip and savor it. Optional but recommended: think of something that makes you happy.

A good friend of mine told me that the best wine is the one that tastes best to you, it does not matter if it is a humble house wine or an expensive one.  What makes it memorable is the mood and occasion you drink it to, the company you are in, the place you are at. Be sure you palate it moderately.
