It is oddly peculiar that most of the world kitchens have a significant choice of snacks or light meals to eat when you are not at home. I would say yakisoba, tacos, hot dogs, etc., fall into this category. Snacks in all their forms and variations are very practical, to satisfy the small hunger that you become when being on the way somewhere or just to savor a delicious treat whenever.
Imbiss is the German word for a snack or small bite. And from this particular region there is one candidate I would like to write about: the Currywurst with fries. It is not clear where did this sausage with a tomato spicy sauce originated, but now you can find it in every city. There are the more posh and fancy versions or the really down to earth ones. It can be a red or white pork sausage and it has invariably to have curry sparkled on top of it. Every cook has their own recipe of the spicy tomato sauce and will not give up their secret ingredient easily. Which snack scores the highest points on your list?
